Privacy Policy
KakugenKo (格言庫)
This Privacy Policy describes how Tomoyuki Kimura (“I”, “me”, or “the developer”) handles information in connection with the mobile app KakugenKo (格言庫) (“the App”). It applies to all versions of the App distributed through platforms such as Google Play and Apple App Store.
1. Information We Collect
The App stores the following data locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to the developer’s servers or accessed by the developer.
- Quote text, author names, and descriptions you enter
- Tags you create
- App settings (theme, notification time, etc.)
- Metadata such as pin status and creation dates
On Android, if Auto Backup for Apps is enabled on your device, this data may be encrypted and backed up to your Google account. On iOS (when an iOS version is available), data may be included in iCloud backups depending on your device settings. These backups are managed by Google LLC or Apple Inc. respectively, and the developer has no access to them.
2. How We Use Information
The information stored locally is used solely to provide the App’s features — saving, browsing, and displaying your quotes and reminders. We do not collect or process personal data on our servers.
3. Third-Party Services
The developer does not share your quotes, tags, or settings with any third party.
However, the App uses the following third-party services operated by Google LLC, which may collect certain technical information:
- Google AdMob — for displaying advertisements
- Firebase Analytics — for understanding app usage and improving the App
We do not sell your personal information to any data broker or third party.
4. App Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Notifications (Android: POST_NOTIFICATIONS / iOS: User Notifications) | To send you quote reminders at the time you set |
The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or storage.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
- All your data is stored only on your device
- Uninstalling the App removes your quotes, tags, and settings from the device
- If device backups are enabled, data may be restored upon reinstalling on the same account
- To remove backup data, use the cloud backup management screen on your device
- The developer does not store your data and cannot restore or delete it on your behalf
6. Advertising (Google AdMob)
How AdMob Works
The App uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may collect and use the following to serve and measure ads:
- Advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID / iOS IDFA)
- IP address
- Device information (OS version, language, region, device model)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
This data is managed by Google LLC under their privacy policy. The developer does not receive or store this data directly.
Opting Out of Personalized Ads
- Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads → “Opt out of Ads Personalization” or “Delete advertising ID”
- iOS (when available): Select “Ask App Not to Track” in the App Tracking Transparency dialog at first launch, or go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
Consent for EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Some US States
For users in regions covered by GDPR (EEA, UK, Switzerland) or applicable US state privacy laws (such as California), the App uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to request consent or offer opt-out options before serving personalized ads.
Children Under 13
The App is not directed at children under 13 (COPPA). For users identified as under 13, the App is configured to serve non-personalized ads only, in accordance with Google’s policies.
7. Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
The App uses Firebase Analytics to understand how people use the App and to improve it. Firebase Analytics may collect:
- App usage data (launches, screen views, session duration)
- Device information (OS version, language, region, device model)
- A Firebase installation ID (an anonymous, per-install identifier)
This data does not identify you personally. It is managed by Google LLC and is not shared with any data broker.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Since the developer does not store your personal data on any server, requests for data access or deletion should be directed to Google (for AdMob and Analytics data) or to your device’s platform provider (for backup data).
If you have questions about your rights or this Policy, please contact us.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page. Significant changes will be announced through app updates.
11. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Japan.
12. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or the handling of your data, please reach out via our contact form.
